Academics

TAM is accredited by AdvancED/North Central Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, and has received their highest grades in teaching and learning for the academic accomplishments of our students and alumnae.

TAM enjoys an excellent relationship with Cardinal Stritch University, where a joint program allows our students to earn college credits.

We emphasize updating and improving one area of study during each school year, with a four year cycle of Science, Math, English and History. During the 2018-19 school year, the area of emphasis has been the Science Department. To this end, we have worked to improve our science resources and have revamped the entire program to include Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Scientific Research. We continually improve our science lab with the goal to truly have a state-of-the-art facility for our lab based courses.

Life Skills

Our Life Skills program, offered to senior students, includes: Critical thinking for the young adult; Relationships – how to succeed; Woodworking; Nutrition; Photography, Art and numerous other skill based mini-sessions – based on student input into their needs and interests.

One strong component of this program is a weekly career strand in which close to 30 individuals present their careers, the schooling and path to achieve that career and all the facts concerning that career choice. The seniors have the opportunity to explore and question. Examples of those who present include: a nurse, police officer, attorney, physician’s assistant, accountant, criminal psychologist, school psychologist, special education teacher…..

Special Activities and Events

Our students enjoy year round activities, including: Rosh Chodesh activities and games; speakers; field trips (apple picking, ropes courses, roller-skating, skiing); cooking, baking, impromptu melave malkas; school retreats in the Dells, school sleep-over Shabbatons in the TAM building, inter-school and national conventions.

TAM’s Silent Auction is an eight-month project that teaches students responsibility, working under pressure, sales, marketing and fundraising skills.

One stage production every year involves students in drama, song, dance, music, art and behind-the-scenes work. Besides the joy of participating in a quality production and performing for family and friends, stage skills and working behind the scenes teach our young women important life skills, including public speaking, teamwork and organization. All participants experience an increased confidence and self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment from completing a project and seeing it succeed. Year after year audiences rave about these productions. Lisa Hiller, producer/director, and Sarah Frank, musical director, have been called by several schools to provide expert advice on theater production. We are deeply grateful for their passion and commitment.

Giving Back to the Community

TAM’s Chesed program is an integral part of the curriculum. Each student is required to participate in activities to assist others in the community. Activities include: mentoring through the Big Sister, Little Sister program, tutoring, assisting families in need, visiting the elderly, working in local community organizations, and assisting the poor in Jerusalem through fundraising projects. In addition, TAM has an annual Chessed Initiative Day, in which the student body is divided into groups who visit local synagogues and organizations to devote the day to the chessed service of the organization’s choice.
It is a wonderful gift to see how through their studies as well as the many special activities, our students discover a higher sense of responsibility and an awareness of their own talents.
